Show the math
Estimates use unrounded numbers. Displayed amounts round to cents.
What this means
The processor takes a percentage of the full charge plus any fixed fee. Recovery increases the charge, which also increases the percentage fee.
Worked example
On $100 at an illustrative 2.9% + $0.30, the fee is $3.20 and net is $96.80. To target $100 net, the modeled gross charge rounds upward to $103.30.
How the math works
Fee = amount × rate/100 + fixed fee. Net = amount − fee. Required gross = (target net + fixed fee)/(1 − rate/100), rounded upward to a cent.
About this estimate
One transaction, one constant rate and one fixed fee. No currency conversion, tax, refund or additional processor charge. Real processor rounding may differ. Processor rules, card-network rules and applicable law govern surcharges; this is calculation math, not permission.
