Show the math

Money inputs accept at most two decimal places. Percentage inputs accept at most six. Percentage amounts round to the nearest cent, ties upward; allocations use exact integer cents.

What this means

Retainage reduces the amount currently payable. Full release later pays the withheld amount, bringing the combined total back to the base.

Worked example

$10,000 at 10% withholds $1,000 and leaves $9,000 currently payable. A full $1,000 release brings the combined total to $10,000.

How the math works

Withheld = base × retainage/100, rounded to nearest cent, ties upward. Currently payable = base − withheld. Full release = withheld.

About this estimate

One payment or cumulative base, without prior releases or adjustments. No release date, legal entitlement or prescribed retainage rate. Requirements depend on your contract and applicable law.
