Estimates use unrounded numbers. Displayed amounts round to cents.
What this means
This estimates the price of a defined addition to a job. Incremental cost includes any overhead allocation you enter. Gross profit shown is after those entered costs and the percentage fee, before unentered expenses. A price calculation does not establish customer approval.
Worked example
Separate fee scenario: the default inputs use a 0% fee and give a $750 price. For $300 additional labor, $200 materials, $100 subcontractors, and no other cost, incremental cost is $600. An illustrative 20% margin and 5% sale-based fee give an $800 price: $40 fee, $160 profit, and 33.33% markup before fee. Profit is 20% of the $800 sale.
How the math works
Incremental cost = additional labor + materials + subcontractors + other direct costs + overhead allocation. Price = incremental cost ÷ (1 − target margin / 100 − processing fee / 100). Profit = price − incremental cost − processing fee. Markup before fee = (price − cost) ÷ cost × 100.
About this estimate
Only additional work is priced. Do not include the original job costs again. Fixed fees belong in other direct costs. Percentage fees apply to the whole additional-work price, and margin plus fee must be below 100%. Taxes and unentered overhead are excluded. ApprovalLink separately records customer approval of agreed scope and amount; no integration or live product link is configured here.
