Show the math
Conversions retain unrounded values. Repeating decimals are rounded for display; no payroll rounding policy is applied.
What this means
An hour has 60 minutes. Decimal time expresses the fraction of an hour in base ten rather than minutes after a decimal point.
Worked example
15 minutes is 0.25 hours, 30 minutes is 0.5 hours and 90 minutes is 1.5 hours. Reversing 1.5 gives 1 hour 30 minutes.
How the math works
Decimal hours = minutes/60. Total minutes = decimal hours × 60. Remaining minutes = (decimal hours − whole hours) × 60.
About this estimate
This converts durations only, not dates or clock-in/out timestamps. No payroll rounding, breaks, overtime or pay rules are applied. Repeating decimals are rounded only for display.
