Show the math
Estimates use unrounded numbers. Displayed amounts round to cents.
What this means
Coverage applies to one coat. The requirement increases with coats and your waste allowance; purchase rounding applies only when a container size is entered.
Worked example
For 600 ft² minus 100 ft² excluded, two coats, user-supplied 250 ft²/gal coverage and 10% waste: 4.4 US gal. One-gallon containers require five; at $30 each, material cost is $150.
How the math works
Paint = (area − excluded area) × coats / coverage × (1 + waste / 100). Containers = ceiling(paint / container size). Purchased volume = count × size. Cost = count × price.
About this estimate
Coverage depends on the chosen paint and surface; no universal coverage is supplied. Coats are positive integers. Exclusions cannot exceed area. Container costs omit labor, equipment and preparation.
